With all the gadgets around the house, the kids have pretty sophisticated tastes when it comes to their electronics. Trying to keep Tara away from my Xoom and iPhone is a full time job. Which makes me glad that LeapFrog keeps up with the trends between the Text and Learn, Letter Discoveries , and the new LeapTop we can at least keep her occupied and distracted for a while.
The big thing for Tara with this toy is that it has a handle. The busily fold it up and carries it of – to her next meeting I suppose – and sits somewhere else to open it up and, well, I suppose send an email!
Like their other learning toys, and Scout, the LeapTop is able to be programmed to say her name. It can also be connected to your computer and the LeapFrog website so you can delve deeper into her “learning” experience.
Apart from this it is a cute toy and being that she gets that it is similar to daddies laptop…..it does it’s job.
I like LeapFrog. We LOVE their fridge toys. The Farm Phonics Magnet has been a been a huge hit (in French) with all the kids. I also think LeapFrog is great for parents with a more gradual approach to introducing electronics to their kids. Our house is filled with video game boxes and DS’s etc…..the LeapFrog toys have tended to be too simplistic for them and the novelty of the Tag Reader system did wear off rather quickly and they were happier reading the books.
Well, Caity was. Adam LOVED hooking his up to my computer to check his progress and see if he could open up new games online. So I suppose this was the right sort of incentive to keep pushing his reading.
The LeapTop will be a toy that Tara will come back and forth too when it strikes her. I don’t really know how much effort I will put into the learning aspect of it. I am not really that type of parent.
